IMUN at Horizon: Developing Global Citizens Through Dialogue, Diplomacy, and Leadership
At Horizon International School, we believe that students grow most powerfully when they are given opportunities to engage with the wider world in meaningful, ethical, and purposeful ways. This is why Horizon proudly co-organizes International Model United Nations (IMUN) events each year, creating a platform where students can develop as confident communicators, thoughtful leaders, and globally minded young people.
IMUN brings together students from diverse backgrounds to explore pressing international issues, participate in committee simulations, debate solutions, and experience the values of diplomacy, collaboration, and responsible global engagement. Through this experience, learners deepen their understanding of current world challenges while strengthening critical thinking, research, negotiation, public speaking, writing, teamwork, and leadership skills. These aims are central to IMUN’s stated objectives and reflect Horizon’s own commitment to high-quality education, multicultural awareness, and the development of ethical, engaged global citizens.
For Horizon students, IMUN is more than an event. It is a meaningful learning journey that encourages them to listen carefully, think independently, communicate respectfully, and contribute constructively in international settings. It nurtures the growth mindset, resilience, compassion, and adaptability that are central to the Horizon vision, while also giving students authentic opportunities to represent ideas, collaborate across cultures, and respond thoughtfully to complex global concerns.
IMUN at Horizon also reflects our commitment to creating a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment where student voice matters. By engaging with delegates, guest speakers, and participants from across the world, students broaden their perspectives, strengthen intercultural understanding, and gain confidence in their ability to contribute positively to their communities and beyond. The brochure highlights IMUN’s international reach, its diverse delegates, and its connections with guest speakers from embassies, the United Nations, and other global organisations, making it a powerful platform for student growth and international exposure.
At Horizon, co-organizing IMUN is part of our wider mission to prepare students not only for academic success, but for meaningful participation in an interconnected world. Through dialogue, diplomacy, and leadership, students learn that they can be curious, creative, compassionate, and committed individuals who approach global challenges with integrity, purpose, and hope.
